Advisor - Francophone Africa Team

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International Secretariat is recruiting a consultant for a one-year contract to join the Francophone Africa team.
This position offers the chance to work in an international and vibrant working environment helping citizens of resource-rich countries benefit from their natural resources and to work on subjects at the cutting edge of development and the extractive industry.
The main responsibility will be to work with the Regional Director and the team in providing implementation support for the EITI Standard to Francophone Africa countries. We are looking for an organised, diplomatic, political and research-savvy individual with sharp analytical skills, who can deliver analytical work in a given timeframe. The candidate is expected to manage competing interests and stakeholder relations in selected EITI member countries in Francophone Africa. The length of the assignment is one year, starting in May or June 2021.
We particularly welcome applicants from Francophone Africa and will consider applicants who want to join on a remote working contract. The working languages are English and French.
- Support the Francophone Africa Team in overseeing EITI implementation in Guinea, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Senegal. This includes:
maintaining active engagement with national stakeholders
providing analysis of EITI reporting, work plans and other key documents
supporting the countries in the preparation of the above
coordinating country projects on specific themes such as SOEc transparency, contract disclosure, beneficial ownership
conducting capacity building activities
coordinating implementation with local and international partners
- Document and communicate progress in assigned countries, including through blogs, news items, updates to country pages on the EITI website and regular reports to the Board, senior management and other partners.
Relevant advanced university degree. Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills with very good command of written and spoken English and French
Excellent command of Microsoft Office tools
At least five years of experience in
natural resource governance
technical or policy work in the extractive sector
Understanding of natural resource governance challenges in Africa
Experience of working in an international environment and with international partners is an advantage
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with EITI is required
